TWF achieves international success in governance and sustainability

The Türkiye Wealth Fund (TWF) has achieved a notable international success by ranking among the top five sovereign wealth funds with the most improved scores in this year’s GSR Scoreboard released by Global SWF (Sovereign Wealth Fund). Global SWF annually ranks sovereign wealth and public pension funds worldwide based on their performance in governance, sustainability, and resilience (GSR) criteria.

As an asset-backed development fund prioritizing adding value to the Turkish economy, the TWF has reached another milestone on the global stage.

In the GSR ranking by Global SWF, which evaluates sovereign wealth funds worldwide on governance, sustainability, and resilience, the TWF has risen eight places since last year, now ranking 19th among the 100 sovereign wealth funds listed.

According to the 2024 report, the TWF is also among the top five funds with the highest GSR score increase, ranking 4th in this category, and has joined the top 20 funds with the highest overall score, boasting a 76% rating.

Entering the Global GSR Scoreboard for the first time in 2020 at the 84th position, the TWF has increased its GSR score by 60% over the past five years, climbing 65 places. This progress reflects the TWF’s dedication to consistently improving its sustainability and governance practices year after year.

The Global SWF report highlights the TWF's recent initiatives and steps taken in the fields of ESG (environment, society, governance).

In recent years, the TWF has been actively working to enhance the sustainability performance of its portfolio companies and provides comprehensive details on its sustainability endeavors to stakeholders through its annual Integrated Activity Reports.

The TWF's annual Integrated Activity Reports adhere to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards, which are internationally recognized for assessing and reporting corporate environmental, social, and governance performance.

The TWF remains steadfast in its mission to create value for the Turkish economy while upholding its sustainability vision. By continuously improving its environmental, social, and governance performance in line with national and international standards, the TWF is confidently progressing towards becoming one of the world's leading sovereign wealth funds.

About the GSR Scoreboard

The scoreboard is comprised of 25 different elements: 10 related to governance, 10 to sustainability, and 5 to resilience, which are answered binarily (Yes/No) with equal weight, based solely on publicly available information, and then converted into percentage scale. The study is applied to a universe of the world’s Top 100 SWFs and Top 100 PPFs, generating 5,000 data points, and repeated annually.

The 2024 edition of the GSR Scoreboard modifies three sustainability elements, in an effort to incorporate contemporaneous issues such as adherence to frameworks and commitment to net-zero goals, and re-organizes the elements in sub-categories, so that the reader can easily follow the rationale.
