The International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) released Investing for Resilience: IFSWF Annual Review 2019. IFSWF, a global network of sovereign wealth funds from nearly 40 countries, examined the equity investments of the funds and their preparedness for Covid-19.
The report showcased Turkey Wealth Fund (TWF) as a success story. Defined as a key player in Turkey’s economy, TWF’s vision and objectives are furnished by an exclusive interview with the Fund’s CEO, Zafer Sönmez.
Drawing on IFSWF’s proprietary dataset of direct equity investments made by 70 sovereign wealth funds globally, the report also revealed that these investors were facing mounting headwinds to investing directly in 2019. Consequently, the value of equity stakes taken by sovereign wealth funds dropped to $35 billion from $43.3 billion in 2018.
